Summary | 0000909: log files lacks \openout lines
Description | Hi Taco - discovered that luatex does not output the \openout lines to the log that every other engine does. The texi2dvi (and other?) scripts use this to determine possible generated files, as the most reliable source of information, as it predates --recorder by many years. Granted it is theoretically suboptimal (loses on filenames longer than the log line length), but that's never been a problem in practice, and anyway, we shouldn't break the world. Can it be reconstituted in luatex please, just like that? It happens in tex.ch, line 4429ff. The \ is hardwired (not \escapechar) and that is useful.
Steps To Reproduce | One-line input file like this: \openout 1 = foobar \end With all engines except luatex, the log file contains: \openout1 = `foobar.tex'.
Additional Information | This was discovered via a Texinfo bug report from Wybo, who also mentioned that the luatex log wraps at char 81 instead of 80 ... would be good to fix that too, of course. He said he reported that separately, but figured I might as well mention it here ...
